Talent: Roger K. Burton, Costume designer
Clothing of the Bad, Beautiful & Misunderstood is how client Roger K. Burton, themed his book and launch party at The Horse Hospital in London.
Hundreds of us piled into his exhibition space and spilled out onto the cobbled street, under a blanket of stars on this pretty mild night. The drinks and chatter flowed freely as we recollected when we first met Roger and how finally after a two-year sabbatical from Films, TV, Editorial and Commercial work he has finished the book! Yippee!
The idea for the book had been drumming in his head for too many years.
“Having spent most of my life collecting, wearing and styling vintage street fashion. I felt now was a good time to share my knowledge and passion for teenage sub-culture and get it into a book”
His company The Contemporary Wardrobe Collection has been based at the old stables close to 25 years. With 50 year’s experience collecting vintage street fashion, this costume designer, stylist, former mod and now author supplied original mod clothing for the 1978 cult film Quadrophenia, before establishing the company.
He has dressed hundreds of bands from the late David Bowie to the very much still with us Rolling Stones. The archive now exceeds some 20 thousand items and serves as a valuable resource for leading fashion and film stylists, designers and important museums around the world.
Wishing him all the best with the book which can be bought on Amazon and good fashion stylist book stockist worldwide.
